We're all about supporting island businesses, and as a certified B Corp, sustainability is at the core of everything we do at the Isle of Wight Distillery. This dedication is evident in every part of our production process and community projects.

In 2020, we decided to order new t-shirts as part of our ongoing efforts to promote our brand while upholding sustainable practices. To make sure these t-shirts matched our eco-friendly values, we teamed up with Teemill, a
UK-based print-on-demand supplier known for their commitment to the circular economy in fashion. 

The clothing industry has a huge environmental impact, with one garbage truck worth of textile waste dumped every second. It's also the second-largest contributor to global waste. This troubling fact made it clear how important it was for our merchandise to not add to this problem. We aimed to create merchandise that not only promoted our brand but also respected the planet.

Teemill’s innovative approach uses renewable energy and high-quality organic cotton to produce durable, long-lasting merchandise. Each item is designed to last and comes with a QR code on the wash-care label that tells customers how to return the product once it’s worn out. This ensures it can be recycled into new items and stay in circulation. By using these sustainable methods and materials, we made significant environmental savings with our latest merchandise order.

Specifically, we saved:
● 16,549,084 litres of water - equivalent to the daily water consumption of over
211,000 people.
● 4,520 kg of CO2 - similar to the amount absorbed by about 202 trees in a year.
● 1,098 kg of plastic - roughly equivalent to 54,000 plastic bottles.

These impressive numbers show our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint. By choosing sustainable merchandise, we've not only promoted our brand responsibly but also made a real impact on the planet.
