Before diving in to 2023, we wanted to reflect on the adventures we’ve had in the past year. As always, we’re hugely grateful for the support and loyalty shown to us by our valued customers. We’ve had a productive year with whirlwind round-the-world trips, new product launches and some amazing accolades! Keep reading for a summary of our best bits…

B Corporation Certified

In a massive win for us and for the island, we became a fully accredited B Corporation in November. This was no mean feat as we got stuck in to a thorough and meticulous process, to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. We’re so delighted to be part of a global community of likeminded organisations challenging the status quo and balancing profit with planet and people.

Mermaid Zest Gin Launched

After much deliberation over flavour profile and bottle colour, we launched our new expression Mermaid Zest Gin this Summer (currently still a limited edition – its longevity is yet to be decided!). The grapefruit-forward spirit is infused with wild-foraged coastal rosemary, as well as fresh lemons and bergamots from the walled garden at Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s island residence, Osborne House. London Cocktail Week

We were thrilled to collaborate with the iconic Sea Containers to take Mermaid riverside for London Cocktail Week. Stunning cocktails paired with spectacular views of the city made for a winning combination! We crafted an amazing pairing selection for a wonderful evening of food and Mermaid cocktails, and got our hands dirty with our fabulous charity partners Surfers Against Sewage with a riverbank clean.

Going for Gold

We were delighted to scoop up gold medals from esteemed bodies the International Wines & Spirits Competition (IWSC) and the American Distilling Institute (ADI) this year. Mermaid Gin, Mermaid Pink Gin and Mermaid Salt Vodka gained gold medals from ADI for ‘Excellence in Packaging’ and brand identity, while Mermaid Gin and Mermaid Salt Vodka were both awarded gold medals by IWSC.

Taking Mermaid Stateside

After a successful Brooklyn Bar Convent, Mermaid Gin and Mermaid Pink Gin crossed the Atlantic to land in the US this year. They’re now available in Total Wine retail outlets and so far there has been a phenomenal response to the spirits. We’re thrilled to be Stateside and looking forward to introducing the rest of the range to our friends in the US.

Mermaid Atlantic Band Together

Together with two friends, our co-founder Xavier established rowing team Mermaid Atlantic, and is set to embark on the adventure of a lifetime in December 2023: rowing 3000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. They’ll be rowing to raise funds for The Seahorse Trust, The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust and Surfers Against Sewage. This year the team have worked hard to gain sponsorship and to get themselves in shape for the gruelling challenge ahead! To get on board and help them reach the finish line, head here.
